More Bang for our Buck!

Exel sponsored banger racing team, Team BDMan, drove to success in the 1600cc Bangers Gold Card Championship’s four qualifying events at Grimley Raceway.

TeamBDMan were confident they’d be successful after the first three qualifying events but weren’t complacent – “We questioned whether we were going to attend the event as we’d almost certainly qualified for the finals after just 3 events.  There was concern in the back of our minds though, that if we didn’t attend it would be just our luck that we would be passed on points. Due to Wilf being injured at a previous event we took two cars.  Wilf’s plan was to remain off the track unless it was absolutely necessary, whilst Johnny went out to cause a nuisance for any Gold roof contenders. The day consisted of three relatively clean races. We knew other drivers were unable to catch us on points so sat back and enjoyed the ride.”

Team BDMan is leading the standings and have qualified for a place in the world finals. The event is due to be held at Foxhall Heath Stadium on Saturday 15th November at 3.30pm.

Their main challenges were mechanical, as can be expected in this hard-hitting competition. But the work doesn’t stop there, the team now need to build the car to compete in the finals. 

Exel had pledged to sponsor the team to enable them to run a new car in each of the races, and now they have made it to the finals, Exel are happy to sponsor them further to provide them the best opportunity for a win in the finals.
